Online Safety
At Little Parndon Primary Academy, the safety and well-being of our pupils are our top priorities, and this extends to their online activities. The internet is a dynamic and valuable resource for learning and entertainment, but it is crucial that our pupils are equipped with the knowledge and skills to navigate it safely and responsibly.
Our Commitment to Online Safety
We are committed to fostering a safe online environment for our students. This involves educating them about the potential risks associated with internet use and teaching them how to protect themselves from harm. Our comprehensive e-safety curriculum is designed to empower students to make informed decisions, recognise dangers, and act responsibly online.

Staying SMART Online
We particularly recommend the SMART rules from Childnet as a cornerstone of our e-safety education. These rules help children understand:
- S: Safe - Keep safe by being careful not to give out personal information to people online.
- M: Meet - Meeting someone you have only been in touch with online can be dangerous. If someone asks you to meet, tell an adult immediately.
- A: Accepting - Accepting emails, messages, or opening files from people you don’t know can be dangerous – they may contain viruses or nasty messages.
- R: Reliable - Someone online might lie about who they are, and information on the internet may not be true. Always check information with other reliable sources.
- T: Tell - Tell a parent, carer, or a trusted adult if something makes you feel uncomfortable or worried.
By providing these resources and maintaining an open dialogue about online safety, we aim to ensure that our pupils can enjoy the benefits of the internet while staying safe. Thank you for partnering with us to protect our children in the digital world.
