Computing
At Little Parndon Primary Academy, we believe that computing is an essential skill for life, empowering pupils to navigate and shape an increasingly digital world. When we consider our mission of "to shape futures through education" we must consider what the world will be like when our youngest children leave education. Our curriculum ensures that children develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to use technology safely, creatively, and effectively to prepare them for the future of technology.
Our Computing Curriculum
Computing at Little Parndon is built around three key areas:
- Computer Science – Understanding how digital systems work and learning to code.
- Information Technology – Developing skills to create, store, and manipulate digital content.
- Digital Literacy – Learning how to use technology responsibly, including online safety.
Our curriculum enables pupils to access ideas and experiences from a wide range of communities and cultures, fostering creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
How We Teach Computing
Computing is taught in three annual modules from Reception to Year 6. Lessons are delivered by class teachers using iPads, ensuring hands-on, interactive learning experiences.
Clare Sutcliffe, co-founder of Code Club, highlights the importance of computing:
"We live in a digital age, and children need to understand how the devices they’re using work and how to control them. Raising a generation of children who can code will have massive benefits to our future economy."
