Music

At Little Parndon Primary Academy, we believe that music is a universal language—one that sparks creativity, builds confidence, and fosters a deep sense of identity and self-worth. A high-quality music education not only nurtures musical talent but also enhances well-being, self-expression, and collaboration. By fostering a love of music and providing opportunities for creative expression, we aim to shape well-rounded, confident, and expressive individuals ready to make their mark on the world - shaping their future.

Our Music Curriculum

Our music curriculum is designed to inspire a lifelong love of music, ensuring that all pupils develop key musical skills in:

Listening – Engaging with a wide range of musical styles, genres, and cultures.
Performing – Singing, playing instruments, and showcasing their talents in front of peers and parents.
Composing – Exploring creativity by writing and arranging their own music.

We follow the Charanga Musical School scheme, an award-winning programme that provides a rich array of resources to support both music specialists and class teachers. Charanga enables us to deliver a high-quality, engaging, and progressive music curriculum, ensuring that every child—regardless of prior musical experience—can listen, perform, and compose with confidence.

Opportunities for Instrumental Learning and Performance

Beyond classroom music, we provide exciting opportunities for pupils to learn and play instruments through our partnerships with Rocksteady and peripatetic music tutors. These specialist-led sessions give children the chance to:

Learn an instrument – Whether it’s guitar, keyboard, drums, or vocals, pupils can explore and develop their skills.
Perform live – Showcasing their progress to their peers and parents in school performances.
Develop a lifelong passion for music – Helping children discover a love of music that stays with them beyond primary school.
